Don't Make Me Leave (NYC), 2016
Acrylic on canvas
4'x3'
Commissioned by Don Farwell for $700
After completing a semester long residency in New York City, family and friends came from California to spend the weekend with my brother (a student of the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts) and me. Those five days have blurred together in our memories but the feelings of adventure and excitement remain. This painting is inspired from a photograph I took while we galavanted through the East Village of Manhattan. Now every time one of us walks into my parents home, we can momentarily relive the joy we experienced together during those few short days.
New Father and New Mother, 2016, Acrylic on canvas, 24"x20" and 30"x24". Valued at $400 each.
My self-adopted brother and sister had their first child this last spring, Sofia. Having missed the pregnancy entirely, my excitement for them compelled me to paint this pairing for them. The source material came from photographs they sent me after Sofia was born of them in their new life as parents.

One of my cousins was married the summer after I graduated high school at the lake we grew up on. Our family has many memories in that park and on that lake. It was beautiful and one hundred seven degrees. This painting was for her, Rebecca, capturing the love and joy we all felt on that particular day on the lake as we welcomed a new member to the family and to our home. Three years later they now have a beautiful son with another on the way starting a new generation who will grow up on that lake.
